Meet the Team

Hi I am David Hawkins

As a Clinical Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals across all stages of life—children, adolescents, and adults.

My background

My professional experience in psychology has led me through various settings, including public mental health services, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and educational environments within the Catholic Education System. I’ve also had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and insights as a lecturer at institutions like Sydney University and Western Sydney University, focusing on psychology, education, and speech pathology.

With over 15 years dedicated to psychological assessments within the education system, I offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for a variety of conditions, including autism spectrum disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, intellectual disabilities, giftedness, and other academic and cognitive assessments that span all age groups.

My work is particularly relevant for those navigating NDIS funding, seeking educational support, requiring assistance for their child at home, looking for personal support services, or aiming to enhance their self-awareness. I am committed to providing thorough and respectful assessments, meticulously tailored to the individual needs of my clients.

I am also a board-approved supervisor and  I supervise clinicians at various stages of their careers. I offer supervision to clinicians aiming for psychologist registration or psychologists seeking endorsement as a clinical psychologist.

my APPROACH

My training is extensive and diverse, encompassing a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to address a wide range of mental health concerns. The therapeutic modalities I utilise include the conversational model, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), and short-term psychodynamic approaches. This broad spectrum of methodologies enables me to customise my approach to effectively meet the individual needs of each person I work with.

I specialise in the following areas:

Hi I am Mary Joy (MJ) Basilio

I am an adult, adolescent, and child psychologist working from Wahroonga NSW which is a suburb on the North Shore of Sydney Australia. I am also a Board Approved Supervisor with the Australian Psychology Board and I offer supervision to clinicians including those seeking full registration as a psychologist.

My Background

My journey in psychology has been diverse and profound. Starting as a behavioral therapist with autistic children, I later moved into roles in child protection, brighter futures, out-of-home care (and adoptions), and risk assessments. These experiences exposed me to diverse challenges and strengthened my resolve to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Building on this foundation I earned my registration as a psychologist in 2015. Since then I’ve focused on diagnosing, treating, and supporting a broad spectrum of neurodivergence and co-occurring conditions including Anxiety, Depression, Complex Trauma, PTSD, Intellectual Disabilities, Personality Disorders, Autism, and ADHD.

My approach

My passion is working with people who are ready and excited to add joy, love, and ease back into their lives. I take pride in being able to help people access their beauty, strength, and resilience to transform their relationships with themselves and with those they love. It brings me great joy to help people gain the self-compassion, insight and tools needed to feel less overwhelmed and more empowered in their healing and growth journey.

My approach extends beyond developing coping strategies. It also focuses on healing, play, creativity, and authenticity. This foundation fosters strong relationships and enhances the capacity for joy, love, connection, and intimacy.

In addition to counselling and psychological intervention, I also conduct psychological assessments for autism and ADHD, providing comprehensive evaluations to support accurate diagnoses and personalised recommendations.
